capturing ONE HORIZON in one symbol

During our first decade, we looked like this to reflect our vision …

One Horizon’s vision is to foster an international community of people who travel with purpose and stand together as ONE to solve global poverty so that all the world’s people have a chance to share one bright HORIZON

Now we look like this to reflect the bright futures that thousands of Africans are enjoying as a result our mission …

One Horizon’s mission is to establish programs that help impoverished Africans build happy, healthy and sustainable futures by bringing people together as ONE through sustainable tourism experiences that fund our programs and broaden their HORIZON

One Horizon’s new logo is a graphic representation of our values – connecting, warm, embracing and collaborative. It’s a symbol of acceptance, connection and understanding – also sharing, experiencing and happiness.

The colours in the design alternate to show the connection between the African people (red) and the rest of the world (yellow/orange) connecting and broadening their HORIZON, together as ONE. The colours we selected are also a symbol of the Maasai Tribe of Kenya …

Red is the most important colour for the Maasai people – they consider it to be a sacred colour. Red represents blood, and it is important for Maasai warriors to wear it as a way to protect themselves against wild animals.

Orange represents another aspect of their culture, hospitality, warmth, friendship and generosity. Yellow represents the sun, which sustains life. In eastern culture, yellow is considered to be a sacred, imperial colour. Western culture is very similar to the Maasai in that yellow is considered to be a sign of happiness and prosperity. For this reason the colour used is an orange yellow tone.

The colour brown is a serious, down-to-earth colour signifying stability, structure and support. Sandy Gold is linked to energy and the power of the sun. Optimistic and positive, gold adds richness and warmth to everything with which it is associated – it illuminates and enhances other things around it.
